#02 How to match colors?
Spoiler: Not what you always thought.
________________________________________________
Hello Dubeliane!
I'm Sara, thank you for those of you who read the second article of the new Dubeliè Blog. The relationship between age and self-esteem is a topic that is very close to my heart, and being able to explore it with you in this space has been a privilege.
Hoping that this has been useful or even just inspiring, we continue with today's new article, Thursday, January 26.
Today we're talking about HOW TO MATCH COLORS, another vast topic that, like few others, lights up my heart with joy just by hearing the name.
Yes, I know… we have already talked about it over time, but what I want to do here, with you, is take some time to think about it together.
First of all: color is a fundamental component of Dubeliè bags. Together with the refined design, the impactful lines and the bright combinations, the color enhances their uniqueness, making them unique and recognizable on the street.
And up to that point, we are all more or less connected. But when it comes to mixing purple, orange, turquoise, canary yellow, how do you do it?
Here is a short guide that we can go into more detail about in the coming weeks if you want. Just let me know what you think in the comments section below!
Colors are matched based on three principles: mutedness, uniformity, and contrast.
To understand these concepts, just search the internet for “color wheel”. You can read these methods in two ways: either by addition, so simply understand how one can replace the other, or one can precede the other, slowly trying to take more and more shades out of the closet until they become real color bombs!
1. CUSHIONING
Through the method of muffling, you can experiment with more or less bold colors (from pale pink to Barbie pink is a moment!) matching them with light, neutral and passe-partout shades. You will be able to communicate to the world who you are with elegance and finesse by wearing a mix of colors with a delicate touch, because you can match light-wash jeans (therefore the neutral item) with a purple shirt (the item with a strong shade) and, to this, match a bag in a neutral shade or similar to purple or even, why not, in strong contrast, like green (see MIRELLA VERDE).
Another example in this regard could be: orange trousers (strong shade), white turtleneck (neutral shade) and the wonderful SERENA ARANCIO to crown the entire outfit.
Notice how really intense colors can be tastefully combined with shades more in your comfort zone.
2. UNIFORMITY
With the uniformity method you will be able to wear very strong colors by skillfully combining their opacity and brightness. You can make your personality explode by matching a turquoise sweater with blue palazzo pants, with which it shares the same color group, or a fluorescent green turtleneck with a forest green skirt. The two chosen shades will embrace each other creating combinations with formidable aesthetic power and also very simple to combine.
For example, you could wear a red shirt over pink trousers (same color group) and match it with the wonderful AMELIE BORDEAUX or VINACCIA. Or, on canary yellow trousers wear a bright white t-shirt, wearing CHIARA ARANCIO, a perfect match with the trousers. I love it!
3. CONTRAST
The third and final method for wisely matching colors together is to look at the color wheel, find your favorite, and… select the opposite!
The two shades will create an intense and impactful visual game, communicating an irreverent and transgressive image of you. The most famous contrasts are red and blue, fuchsia and orange, green and purple... and I feel like saying that they drive me crazy.
You can wear a blue shirt with gold buttons over exclusive burgundy palazzo trousers, paired with a neutral bag like the elegant IRENE BIANCO and TOUPE.
Or, again, a meadow green knitted dress, bringing you ALESSANDRA FUCSIA!
This method, needless to say, can only be adopted by the most daring among you!
It goes without saying what my favorite method is… but I’ll leave that up to you to guess.
Write down below which method is your favorite and which one you will start using: are you approaching color for the first time? Or would you call yourself a “veterans”? What are your favorite color combinations?
And above all, let's open the bets. What is the method that I could NEVER give up?
PS Would you like to start dressing more colorfully but can't find the right clothes around?
I remind you that every Tuesday evening, at 9:30 pm, you will find a LIVE on INSTAGRAM (@___dubeliè___) in which I bring you some clothes in full Dubeliè style at super accessible prices, for all tastes and… truly unmissable!
With love,
Yours, Sara

Cara Sara,
